In my various wanderings around the web, I once came across a page of a woman who advertised herself as a kind of style councellor to CDs. The particular thing I remember her saying was that a woman's body shape is, in particular, defined by the shape of the hips - while CDs tended to concentrate on the breasts. Her point was that they made less convincing women as a result.

I can see where she's coming from - in that people here (relatively) often talk about their breast forms and where to get them. But there seems no comparable interest in, I dunno, hip forms. True "padded panties" do come up sometimes (as in Missy's cruise stories), but not so often. Also, when I went to buy my breast forms (at Doreens Fashions in London) there seemed distinctly less choice in padded panties.

Also I find that I like bigger hips than the padded panties available (anyway at Doreens) seem to give (not that I necessarily do a good job in achieving this). A lot of women are wider at the hip than at the chest. I'm just wondering if other people here have views on this.

I agree, I have my own home made hip and butt padding . This seems to work for me as I go out in public with no excitement.

Many moons ago (pre Internet) when I was first getting serious I could not find padding for hips anywhere or in any form. I resorted to foam padding for cushions (cut to shape) inside a pantie girdle.

I feel using this and other enhancements give me a very feminine figure.

half the fun is experimenting anyway.

and its not just the hips, but the derriere as well. I have tried many types that I find on line or in stores Fredereicks used to have a good one, but I have had trouble getting that one anymore. Sometimes i switch out the pads from one style with those in another--or even sometimes double them up.

In the winter, the clothing styles are a little easier to try all sorts of things. Summer time is the tricky time for the clothes I want to wear. I have several pair of padded panties that are just for the caboose...and If I wear them alone, I use other clothing tricks to give the illusion of hips / or a pulled in waist (that then gives me hips).

Losing weight has helped a lot with that (I used to not be able to pull in the stomach --now I can). But you are right--the bust line is the easiest part. Hips and butt are trickier.

Good points --er-- hips. But there is something else about the female shape. It's also the skeletal basic structure. The pelvic bones flare out more, and the distance between the hip joints is actually proportionately greater. It is easier for a woman to cross her legs when she sits down because of this feature. She rotates her hips when she walks - this and the leg crossing are unnatural to us. When we try to emulate (or "femulate") it requires much practice and rarely looks exacly "right".

It's tough to be a woman. But it's fun to try.

Hugs,

Lydia

I've never worried about hips. I figure that no matter the enhancements, I still wouldn't pass.

I bought a pair of longline panties with hip and butt pads. However they didn't seem to add much definition, so I cut a second set of pads from foam rubber and added these to the existing pads. That did the trick. A pair of pantyhose over these smooths out the lines.

Clearly a problem, but not one I have worried unduly about, I figure that most girls my height don't have perfect figures any way, and the more foundation garments I wear the less I enjoy the feel of the over top garments, I like to wear as little underwear as needed so I can feel the full flow of the materials. I do find that if I can emphasis and raise my waist - say with a belt - then this gives the illusion of bigger hips. The cut of the dress or skirt can help as well.

Look for "Classic Curves" and "Veronica" via Google for some popular padding.

Thanks for the answers. Because I'm not going out, I have a less high standard for the way the padding is going to stay in place and last and have resorted to folded up and shaped T-Shirts as a result. I basically use one T-shirt for each of the hips and one for the behind (smoothed out and shaped appropriately). They go inside a panty-girdle and tights. The whole thing is held in place by a body-shaper or corsellette which has a lot of elastic control. I don't think it's a bad result, but I doubt it would hold up if I was doing a lot of walking about.

I have a fairly slight frame with some degree of belly and I also like to pad in the front, with a fourth T-Shirt. This gives me a kind of lap and disappears the belly. The other thing it does is diffuse the feeling of having male genitals (other people seem to like physically disappearing them - e.g. through "tucking"). That allows me to let my fantasies of being a woman to really take control - and I think does have quite an influence on the way I hold myself, my demeanour etc (when it works).

Very Heath Robinson...
